Niantic

A collection of advertising created for various Niantic titles; Catan World Explorers, Heavy Metal Transformers, and Peridot.

Across all projects, I operated as the Lead Motion Designer in addition to being Creative Lead for the production team, driving the Art Direction and testing strategies.

Catan World Explorers

For these creatives, we were testing how audiences would respond to advertising different game mechanics, the main pillars of the game, as well as the duration of the videos. The three examples here have different combinations of those testing strategies.

Build, Harvest, Trade, and how that looks in the game. These projects took the main attractions of the game and utilized in-game mechanics to show how it all comes together.

Heavy Metal: Transformers

For this title, we had the privilege of working with 3D assets of the in-game Transformers. Utilizing Maya and Marmoset for the 3D assets, we tested to see which elements performed best: gameplay-focused, 3D asset-focused, or a combination of both.

Being able to lean on the fanbase of the Transformers franchise, two goals ran concurrent: how to bring in existing fans, and how to gain new fans who may already look for battle-focused mobile gaming.

Peridot

For these creatives, the challenge was advertising the main mechanic of the game - AR. The game leverages AR to provide location-based experiences and discoveries. We wanted to treat this game as an AR caretaking game, with a pet you can nurture wherever you go.

Every Dot created is unique to every player, and players have the ability to encounter additional Dots to create new unique baby Dots to nurture.
